Job Summary:
This is a Family Law Attorney position with an emphasis on complex family law matters including litigation and/or collaborative law.
To excel in this role, you will be an exceptional communicator, with emotional intelligence and excellent negotiating and debating skills. You must have experience in practicing law and the ability to successfully manage multiple clients. You will develop relationships with clients as you establish legal needs, provide counsel, help them understand their legal options, and represent them in court and negotiations. You will also conduct research, prepare legal documents, and perform other duties to ensure that clients receive the best and most cost-effective legal solutions. You should be knowledgeable, attentive, and proactive. You are expected to contribute to the firm by achieving your “profitable pursuits” throughout your role. Profitable pursuits represent the tangible value you bring to the firm, for example, through efficient case management, building strong client relationships, or developing new business opportunities. In this position, you are joining a dynamic team of professionals. Excellence, integrity and care are at the core of Elise Buie Family Law. In this role, we expect you to be a team player, build collaborative relationships, think independently, problem solve, follow and suggest improvements to processes, provide feedback and ideas, draft and create legal documents, manage your own caseload, manage a legal pod of professionals in a cost-effective manner, advocate in court, inter-face with clients and the court on a daily basis.
Attorney Profitable Pursuits:
- Efficiency of time and work including that of the Legal Pod
- Superb client care and communication in accordance with our Standards of Care and weekly Trust Management in accordance with our Trust Replenishment Process
- Simultaneously billing and meeting 100% billed on invoice (BOI) expectations daily
Essential Functions and Duties:
- Effectively and compassionately communicate with clients about their legal needs
- Answer client emails/calls timely and respond to the needs of clients as per our Standards of Care
- Inform clients of legal options to empower them to meet their goals and holistic needs
- Represent clients in court, mediation, arbitration, and trial
- Prepare and draft legal documents on behalf of clients
- Balance clients short-term and long-term goals and act with professionalism while negotiating settlements
- Comply with all legal standards and the Rules of Professional Responsibility
- Regularly update clients about their cases in accordance with our Standards of Care
- Maintain case files and Clio in accordance with firm policies and simultaneous time records in accordance with billing policies
- Develop strategies to resolve cases favorably and cost-effectively for clients and record strategy in Clio Notes regularly as it updates
- Consult with prospective new clients
- Build relationships within the larger community including lawyers and other professional
- Travel as required
- Attend team and firm required meetings
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Requirement of reliable internet and access to a phone
- Requirement of reliable access to transportation to/from court hearings and client meetings

Education and Experience:
- A member in good standing of the Washington State Bar Association
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience practicing in Family Law in Washington
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience practicing in Estate Planning Law in Washington
- Familiarity with King County and Snohomish County and Pierce County local rules
- Motion experience required
- Mediation experience required
- Proficient with technology required
- Collaborative Law training is required within 2 years of starting
- Trial Training is required within 2 years of starting
- Experience with maintaining and simultaneously recording a yearly billable hour requirement
- Experience with a Legal Practice Management software
- Experience with Outlook/Dropbox/Adobe/Microsoft Office 365
- Experience with Apple devices or ability to learn quickly
