- Outpatient Psychiatrist | 120-Patient Panel | Equity Partnership | Boston & NYC
Description
Have you thought about starting your own private practice, but don't know where to start?
Are you tired of revolving-door, 15-minute med appointments?
Are you burnt-out by a system that wasn’t built for you, or your patients?
Are you ready to practice psychiatry the way you always thought you would?
We are building a new kind of psychiatry office: for physicians, by physicians. No private equity, no venture capital.

Our Company
Center Psychiatry is a private-pay practice that combines physician-led psychotherapy and medication management. We provide exceptional treatment and service to our patients, while giving our practitioners a reasonable patient panel and the modern workplace freedoms they deserve.
Our physicians set their own schedule and are considered full-time at 32 clinical hours. They are free to provide extended sessions, and often meet with patients weekly. We encourage providers to pursue specialized clinical focuses, and we work to attract niche patient categories.
We are family-owned and operated, with no venture capital or outside investment. A typical “full panel” consists of 120 patients. Our revenue-split compensation model offers salaries competitive with practices requiring more than three-times the patient load.
Our practice is built on creating an environment where patients and physicians can thrive. We pride ourselves on being responsive and attentive to patient needs. We focus on fostering lasting patient relationships, and take the time to materially improve their lives.
Our company was founded by a former Mass General psychiatrist and her husband, an associate of MIT’s Center for Entrepreneurship. It is built on frameworks designed at MIT to accelerate innovative companies. We use modern business approaches to create clinics where our psychiatrists have the time and energy to grow professionally, and personally.
We explicitly reject the private equity and venture capital take-over of American psychiatry clinics, and are committed to remaining a family- and employee-owned company.
Role Description
We're recruiting both adult and child & adolescent psychiatrists for part-time and full-time positions. What sets us apart is a two-year path to equity partnership — this isn't a revolving-door employer looking for warm bodies. We're building a new kind of psychiatric group practice, and we're looking for clinicians who want to help shape it from the inside as long-term partners, not just employees.
We welcome psychiatrists at every career stage — whether you're an established clinician ready for a new chapter or a recent residency graduate launching your practice. Because our model pairs medication management with meaningful therapy, we're especially drawn to psychiatrists who are passionate about delivering advanced therapeutic modalities alongside pharmacologic care.
We are hiring in both New York City and Boston. Associate psychiatrist annual salaries range from $275,000 to $350,000 per year. Partner psychiatrist salaries range from $400,000 to $600,000 + equity. This salary range is based on 32 clinical hours per week.
Our Model
Our model combines elements of a typical regional group practice and a concierge clinic. Like a regional clinic, we offer partnership-track positions, vacation coverage, and a community of peer physicians. Like a concierge clinic, we offer high-touch customer service, same-week intakes, and extended appointment lengths.
We are a cash-pay practice, with many of our patients utilizing out-of-network benefits. Our doctors are free to offer sliding scales, and our disconnection from insurance companies means they write their notes for themselves — not an outside auditor.
We are looking to partner with practitioners who would like the time and freedom to be creative in treating their patients. We want physicians who are eager to grow professionally while enjoying the freedom to pursue outside interests and endeavors. We want your feedback as we grow a practice that continues to serve our physicians.
If you have specializations, an interest in specializing, or speak a second language, we market your services to reflect your individuality. We want you to have a patient panel that provides you with fulfillment, and we will work closely with you to help make that a reality. Our proprietary branding and marketing systems ensure your panel is filled with clients that reflect your interests.
Compensation
Our compensation models are completely transparent. Partner and associate psychiatrists participate in a revenue share system that rewards patient retention.
Associate psychiatrists average $200 to $250 per hour of patient facing time.
Partner psychiatrists average $300 to $350 per hour of patient facing time.
