About the Role
The Senior Manager, Species Fund will lead and manage the deployment of a new large grant portfolio focused on the recovery of Endangered species, working under the guidance and supervision of the Fund’s steering committee.
The Senior Manager, Species Fund will perform the following and other duties as assigned:
- Ensure the successful deployment of grants to local partners to fund the recovery of multiple Endangered species across the globe.
- Provide strategic guidance and technical support to local partners and internal Re:wild teams in the development of high-quality species recovery proposals.
- Review proposals to ensure they are compliant with all requirements, maintain strong conceptual rigor, technical soundness, and operational feasibility.
- Monitor the implementation of grants, working closely with Re:wild project managers and local partners, and make required modifications to ensure on time and high-quality delivery.
- Oversee the portfolio of grants in collaboration with Re:wild project managers and teams for individual species.
- Lead periodic reporting to the Fund’s Steering Committee (the governance body providing strategic oversight and investment direction) and serve as part of the Fund Secretariat supporting its operations.
- Lead on the development of an annual report to demonstrate the impact of the Fund.
- Provide regular updates to leadership and flag issues early to permit adaptation.
- Engage with co-funders and work closely with Re:wild Philanthropy team in support of bringing other funders into the initiative and to secure match funding for projects.
- Work closely with the Re:wild and co-funder marketing and communications teams on all communications products/efforts stemming from the Fund.
- Liaise with IUCN Species Survival Commission and ensure their technical inputs into project design and monitoring.
- Liaise with partners such as Reverse the Red to create synergies with national delivery of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework’s Goal A and Target for species recovery.
Compensation and Benefits:
- This is a full-time, exempt, position.
- Projected salary range of $90,000-110,000 with the final determination to be made commensurate with the candidate’s experience.
- Re:wild provides medical, dental, vision, short- and long-term disability, and life insurance, with Re:wild covering 65% to 100% of premiums, depending on plan selection and dependent coverage. Re:wild also offers a 403b retirement plan with up to 3% match after a year of employment.
- Re:wild observes 16 paid holidays each calendar year. Full-time employees can also accrue the following annually: up to 15 days of vacation leave, 12 days of illness leave and 2 volunteer days.
Requirements
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in conservation.
- Extensive experience soliciting, developing, reviewing, and managing proposals.
- Experience managing a large portfolio of projects.
- Budget management experience.
- Strong writing skills; writing summary reports and proposals.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse local partners across the world.
- Ability to work independently but also as part of a team.
- Strong presentation and verbal communications skills.
- Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree in a relevant field preferred.
- Ability to speak Spanish, French, Portuguese, or Bahasa Indonesia preferred.

- Hours: The position may require working outside of normal business hours to engage with staff and partners located in different time zones around the world.
- Travel: Estimate 3-6 domestic or international trips per year, as needed.
