Description
About Evergreen Action
Evergreen Action (Evergreen) is leading the fight to put bold climate action at the top of America's agenda. We’re building the ambitious, actionable policy roadmap for an all-out mobilization to defeat climate change—and to create millions of jobs in a thriving, just, and inclusive clean energy future.
Today, Evergreen combines movement partnerships with direct advocacy to deliver the greatest positive impact, as fast as possible. They mix bold policy products with campaign-style communications and shrewd advocacy tactics. And it’s working.
Since Evergreen was founded, they have successfully influenced the U.S. climate policy landscape. They played a pivotal role in the passage and implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), helped set critical federal standards on pollution, and aided in critical state wins like Michigan’s 2023 100% clean energy standard. Now, under the Trump administration, they are helping states both achieve bold climate progress and defend against attacks on progress, building momentum toward a cross-state climate affordability agenda and renewed climate leadership.
The Opportunity
Evergreen is seeking a full-time Director for the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic region to play a pivotal role in driving climate leadership across key states, including but not limited to New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland. The Director will spearhead efforts to advance Evergreen's state leadership agenda, focusing on developing actionable and strategic policy and advocacy interventions that are both ambitious but also matched to the political moment and specific context of our priority states in the region.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a seasoned climate advocate and strategist with deep experience advancing clean energy and climate policy at the state level. They bring a strong track record of leading complex advocacy campaigns, navigating political realities with sophistication, and delivering tangible policy wins. This individual combines sharp political judgment with the ability to build trust across diverse coalitions, engage policymakers effectively, and translate bold climate goals into actionable, achievable strategies.
