AWP is seeking an experienced freelance conference sponsorship and digital advertising sales consultant to help grow revenue across our flagship conference and yearround media platforms. This is a remote, U.S.based contract opportunity for a sales professional who enjoys owning the full sales cycle and building relationships with missionaligned organizations.
The engagement runs approximately 10 months, beginning May 4, 2026, and includes a $1,200 biweekly flat rate plus tiered commission (2%–18%). You’ll sell sponsorship and advertising opportunities across the Conference & Bookfair, The Writer’s Chronicle, website, and newsletters.
Own and manage a portfolio of sponsorship and advertising clients across AWP platforms, including existing accounts and new prospects
Generate new business and reactivate lapsed conference sponsors and advertisers through outreach, networking, email campaigns, and other relevant channels
Build and maintain a sales pipeline aligned with revenue targets
Manage the full sales cycle, from prospecting and proposals through negotiation, contracting, closing, and campaign delivery
Serve as the primary client contact during campaign execution, ensuring timely collection of assets and adherence to specifications and deadlines
Develop tailored proposals and sales presentations using audience and performance data
Manage administrative sales processes, including proposals, insertion orders, invoicing, and payment followup as needed
Maintain accurate records in iMIS, Google Docs/Sheets, Asana, eShow, and related tracking systems
Provide regular reporting on prospecting progress, revenue performance, and forecasts
Collaborate with internal teams to align timelines and support smooth campaign delivery
Share market feedback on pricing, packaging, and competitive positioning
Provide documentation required for commission verification and reporting
Requirements
3–5 years of experience with a proven track record in digital sales and revenue generation
Strong communication and relationshipbuilding skills
Knowledge of sponsorship and digital advertising, including digital magazines, enewsletters, websites, and event programs
Existing relationships with advertisers or agencies—especially within missiondriven, literary, arts, nonprofit, or media sectors—are a plus
Experience selling within the literary or arts space is a plus
Proficiency with CRM and sales tools, and familiarity with current digital marketing and sales trends
Strong attention to detail, adaptability, followthrough, and high ethical standards
