Analyst Institute is seeking an Analyst to join our Research Team. You will work alongside a collaborative group of researchers and analysts with backgrounds in social science, data science, and statistics to produce rigorous research that supports organizations across the ecosystem. Conduct and visualize a range of quantitative analyses, including observational studies and exploratory landscape analyses
Wrangle real-world data using R, SQL, and other tools
Contribute to the maintenance of Analyst Institute’s collaborative codebase
Help Analyst Institute responsibly and effectively integrate generative AI capabilities into our analytical workstreams (e.g. supporting qualitative data analysis, automating software development stages)
Draw from more than a decade of experimental results to create broad lessons for the community
Requirements
The following list outlines the core skills and experience we look for in an Analyst. Candidates are not expected to meet every qualification; if your background is a strong fit in other ways, you are encouraged to apply.
You should be someone who:
Is motivated to apply data and research to support mission-aligned causes
Is committed to working with those representing historically marginalized communities in an equitable and inclusive manner
Has experience working with a wide range of data and statistical methods (e.g., through coursework, projects, or professional work), ideally in R
Has familiarity with experimental design and basic causal inference concepts
Has a demonstrated ability to stay organized and work through complex projects with firm deadlines
Works effectively both independently and in small, collaborative teams
Additional experience that is helpful but not required:

Command line or shell scripting in a Unix/Linux environment
Experience with observational, qualitative, or mixed-methods research
Survey design, fielding, or analysis
Exposure to predictive modeling or machine learning approaches
Experience with digital or campaign analytics (e.g., analyzing web, email, or social media performance)
Creating clear, client-facing analyses, reports, and presentations
Strong data visualization skills and grasp of associated best practices
Familiarity with political data, campaigns, or voter file data
This role has no formal education requirements; we value demonstrated ability (including personal projects) over educational background.
Analyst Institute values diversity in thought, background, and experience, and we’re an equal opportunity employer. People from historically underrepresented backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
