Fortuna is a New York-based platform helping families navigate long-term care planning. We are seeking a New York-licensed attorney to join us in an Of Counsel capacity as we expand our presence across New York State.
This is a flexible, independent arrangement designed to complement your existing practice. You will maintain full ownership of the attorney-client relationship and all legal advice rendered, while Fortuna supports the broader client journey.
Responsibilities
Serve as supervising attorney for Medicaid planning engagements Advise clients on strategies to achieve Medicaid eligibility Draft and execute legal instruments including Medicaid Asset Protection Trusts, pooled income trusts, powers of attorney and related documents Advise on spousal planning, spend-down strategies and exempt asset transfers Stay current on New York Medicaid regulatory changes including evolving lookback rules Maintain compliance with all NY Rules of Professional Conduct
Requirements
Requirements:
Active New York State Bar membership in good standing
Working knowledge of New York Medicaid eligibility rules or desire to learn
Comfortable working within a technology-enabled client workflow
Strong client communication skills
Preferred:
Dedicated elder law or Medicaid planning practice
Experience with Community Medicaid and Chronic/Institutional Medicaid programs
Familiarity with NY's evolving lookback rules for community-based long-term care
