THE OPPORTUNITY
Advancing Opportunities in Madagascar (AOM) is seeking a passionate and
results-driven Development and Fundraising Consultant to lead our fundraising efforts and
support our mission of cultivating hope and opportunity for Malagasy children and their families.
This is a unique opportunity for a motivated and organized fundraising professional to
make a tangible impact within a small, nimble, and growing organization. As the key driver of
our fundraising, you will develop and execute the strategy to meet our $150,000 annual goal.

ABOUT OUR WORK
Advancing Opportunities in Madagascar (AOM) 501(c)(3) is a non-profit organization
striving to improve the lives ofMalagasy children and their families through programs and
initiatives that cultivate hope, opportunity, and self-determination. Founded in 2000, our work
initially focused on helping children in orphanages. Our mission has evolved and now reframes
our goals to keep families together by strengthening educational, social, and economic
opportunities to secure a stronger, more vibrant Madagascar for children and their families. We
both build programs and partner with existing Madagascar-based organizations to establish
holistic community support, including education, savings groups, medical support,
culturally-rooted job training, and counseling. We partner with local leaders to fortify the
self-determination of Malagasy families. Annually, our programs serve over 400 children and their families.
Requirements
Fundraising Strategy & Campaign Management
Develop and execute a comprehensive annual fundraising plan in partnership with the
administrator and the board of directors.
Plan, organize, and manage all aspects of fundraising campaigns, including an annual
giving campaign and other special events.
Train and empower board Members, staff, and volunteers in fundraising best practices
and their role in development activities.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of donor information, contributions, and
communications.
Grant Writing & Management
Research and identify new foundation and corporate grant opportunities that align with
AOM's mission.
Serve as the lead writer for compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and fundraising
appeals.
Ensure all grant reporting and legal compliance requirements for donations are satisfied
in a timely manner.
Donor Cultivation & Stewardship
Identify, research, and cultivate a network of prospective major donors, corporate
sponsors, and foundation partners.
Manage and steward relationships with existing individual donors and foundation leaders
to foster long-term engagement.
Develop and manage ongoing donor communications, ensuring supporters are engaged
and informed of AOM's work, priorities, and impact.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
A minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in fundraising, development, or
a related field with a proven track record of meeting fundraising goals.
Exceptional storytelling and persuasive writing skills, with direct experience in writing
successful grant proposals, fundraising appeals, and donor communications.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a natural ability to build rapport
and motivate donors, board members, and volunteers.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple
projects and deadlines successfully.
A passionate belief in the mission of AOM.
Preferred:
Experience working or volunteering with a small, growing non-profit.
Familiarity with international development, community-led initiatives, or issues related to
Madagascar.
Confidence and experience with public speaking.
