The Sports Performance Coach has the key task of observing and monitoring athletes to aid in the design of performance improving exercise training programs.
Working Contacts:
All PRO employees, League employees, PRO officials, and a variety of vendors.
Main Responsibilities and Tasks include, but are not limited to:
Working with the Sports Performance Staff to establish and implement best-practice physical training programs for PRO officials.
Assisting in the development and implementation of strength and conditioning programs for PRO officials:
Delivering individualized strength and conditioning training reports and managing monitoring tool results.
Providing input to adjust daily workouts according to monitoring tool results.
Managing match and training data dashboards to aid in the delivery of sport science information.
Working closely with the Director of Sports Performance to analyze, improve, and provide consistent insight into the PRO Sports Performance Department.
Analyzing and provide feedback on training and game performance data.
Attending PRO’s annual pre-season camp in January.
Attending PRO’s training camps from February through October.
Attending PRO2 camps throughout the year.
Attending weekly PRO and/or PRO2 assigning calls.
Coordinating and delivering PRO fitness tests.
Provide other departmental assistance and support, as required.
Represent and promote the best interests of PRO at all times.
Requirements
Education & Experience:
B.S. degree in sport and exercise science or human movement and/or M.S. degree from an accredited college or university.
Minimum 3 years direct experience in Sports Science or Strength and Conditioning.
NSCA, CSCS, or similar certification.
Knowledge and understanding of the game of soccer preferred.
Prior experience working directly with sports officials preferred.
Prior experience working directly with sports management and sports science professionals in soccer.
Qualifications:
Experience and skills in utilizing R or similar language OR
Educational Background and Certification in Nutrition OR
Educational Background in Sport Performance Psychology
Keen interest in sports and fitness; and physical and biomedical sciences.
Excellent observational and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Strong computer skills, including advanced Microsoft Office skills.
Proficiency in the use of sports science-related equipment and software.
Proficiency in cloud-based communications.
Excellent team player, but also able to work efficiently and effectively when unsupervised.
Ability to work flexible hours, including frequent travel, primarily within the U.S.
Ability to maintain the highest level of professionalism within a professional sports environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills.
