Description
STV will be hiring several people to fill multiple Organizer positions. While all of the Organizer positions will have the same core set of responsibilities, each role will also have distinct responsibilities unique to that role.
The Pod Organizer will coach volunteers to form and lead “pods” (teams of friends who canvass together) to mobilize for the upcoming elections. This role recruits and develops volunteers, builds and supports STV pods, and recruits and coordinates a team of pod coaches. This role is responsible for updating the volunteer database, creating tools to support pods to self organize, and communicating regularly with pod leaders & coaches to sustain and grow their participation.This role will proactively develop new methods for volunteer recruitment. The Pod Organizer reports to Lead Distributed Organizer and is housed in the Organizing Department.
The Community and Culture Organizer will help create a fantastic, meaningful experience for any volunteer or potential volunteer who engages with STV, where they feel a sense of community & belonging. This role will develop strategies and practices that nurture community and belonging in all layers of volunteer engagement. You will collaborate with various teams and departments to implement these practices across our programs. This includes planning in-person events; bringing art, healing, community building activities to in-person and online activities; creating fun swag, etc.
This role will build and run an Arts & Culture Volunteer Committee of super volunteers, who will recruit & organize artists (visual artists, musicians, actors, comedians, poets, writers, etc), cultural workers, and healers to bring their talents to STV activities to make them more meaningful & engaging. This position reports to the Distributed Organizing Manager and is housed in the Organizing Department.
This role will help expand our reach into new audiences, and inspire existing audiences through collaborations with artists, cultural workers, healers, and other "influencers." In collaboration with our Digital Organizing & Communications strategies, this role will work with artists & other “influencers” to create content & share content.
The Grassroots Fundraising Organizer will support STV’s peer-to-peer fundraising efforts by directly coaching volunteers and supporting a team of fundraising coaches who will also be directly coaching volunteers. This role will build relationships & rapport with potential fundraising volunteers over phone or zoom to talk through fears about fundraising; brainstorm fundraising plans with volunteers to outreach to their networks; and offer continuous cheerleading and support where necessary. This role will support a robust team of fundraising coaches by onboarding, training and developing materials for new coaches.
This role will engage in donor organizing activities, such as conducting 1:1 meetings with donors; making direct asks to encourage them to donate; managing a team of volunteers conducting 1:1 meetings with donors; assist with events aimed at donors; and attend house parties (virtual or in person, depending on the location) to talk about Seed the Vote. We seek someone who will be supportive, responsive and patient with volunteers, including technology-challenged volunteers e.g. walking a volunteer 1:1 to set up a fundraising page or talking them through on how to reset a password. This position reports to the Grassroots Fundraising Manager.

Volunteer Recruitment & Engagement
- Recruit people to volunteer with Seed the Vote, particularly to doorknock in key swing districts
- Recruit, train, and support pod leaders and supervolunteers to take on meaningful roles
- Re-engage past volunteers through phone calls, relational organizing, texting, and events
- Run virtual information sessions and 1:1 conversations with prospective volunteers
- Present at virtual and in-person house parties and community events
- Prepare and maintain materials to support outreach and recruitment
Volunteer Leadership & Structure Management
- Facilitate regular check-ins, trainings, and leadership meetings for volunteer leaders
- Identify high-potential volunteers and support their growth into expanded leadership roles
- Ensure volunteer leaders feel supported, aligned with organizational goals, and connected to one another
- Manage and input critical data and details into relevant database(s), depending on your role
Events & Community Building
- Plan and execute virtual and in-person volunteer engagement events
- Support political education programming in collaboration with senior staff
- Coordinate logistics for events and delegate responsibilities to volunteer leaders
- Foster a welcoming, big-tent organizing culture that brings people into long-term political development
Collaboration & Organizational Support
- Work with guidance from their manager to develop and implement recruitment and engagement strategy
- Collaborate with communications and organizing staff to align outreach and messaging, developing recruitment messaging when needed
- Track progress, maintain data integrity, and contribute to evaluation of organizing efforts
Required Qualifications
- 2-3 years of experience in community organizing, volunteer programs, or electoral campaigns
- Experience supporting volunteer leaders within a distributed organizing model
- Strong coaching and relationship-building skills
- Excellent communication skills (1:1, small group, and public presentation)
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-directed
- Strong emotional intelligence and ability to build trust across differences
- Commitment to social justice and building long-term power in working class communities and communities of color
- Comfort using platforms such as Google Suite, Zoom, databases (we use AirTable and Solidarity Tech) and related tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading volunteer pods, teams, or regional volunteer structures
- 3+ years of experience in grassroots or electoral organizing

Work Environment / Physical Demands
- Able to work on a computer, including sitting at a desk, for extended periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation.

- Able to speak clearly and in audible tones on the phone and in person and to be understood by others.
- Able to hear and understand speech at typical levels in person and over the telephone.

- Ability to reach, stoop, and kneel to operate equipment or arrange supplies.
Employment Terms
- This position may be remote or a remote/in office hybrid. STV has an office in the San Francisco Bay Area, but the employee can live anywhere.
- This is a temporary position from June to November / December 2026.
- We are open to negotiating the hours per week for any of the Organizer positions, up to full-time.
- If STV and the candidate agrees to 20 hours/wk or more, the position is benefits eligible. We offer a competitive health benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, and a generous paid time off schedule.
- The estimated hourly rate is $33.65 - $39.42 per hour, or the estimated salary range is $70,000 - $82,000 per year, depending on experience.
- Due to California labor law, this position will be classified as an employee, though we encourage people with consulting experience and those not seeking full-time positions to apply.
