This Part Time Position is 16 hours per week (2 days per week) on site at Shasta County Jail, Redding, CA.

The Psychiatrist will provide comprehensive mental health care to patients in the local detention setting of Correctional Healthcare. This includes psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, treatment planning, and medication management for individuals with mental health disorders. This role will collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure integrated, evidence-based care. The Psychiatrist will also maintain accurate medical records, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and support the overall mental health program within the facility.
Requirements
What we Ask of YOU:
- Active, unencumbered, and unrestricted license to practice medicine the State of California (MD or DO).
- Post-graduate Residency training in General Psychiatry required; experience in Forensic Psychiatry is very helpful.
- Active and unrestricted DEA Registration (or be willing to obtain Registration).
- Board Certification in Psychiatry is preferred; Board Eligible is required.
- Experience in Correctional Healthcare or other settings with underserved cohorts desired.
- Experience in diagnosis, treatment planning, and providing healthcare services in a managed care or correctional facility setting.
- Active CPR/BLS certificate required (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guideline approved) prior to Start Date.
